Planning for soccer practices requries a good soccer drill library

Monday, February 8th, 2010

One of the more important things to do as a coach is to take time to design soccer practices that fit the age and skill level of your players.  It is very important to have an extensive library of soccer drills to choose from so that practices are not predictable and mindless.  Mentally, it is important for your players to have to use their heads and pay attention to new drills becuase if drills are repeated over and over at every pracitce then players don’t use their head as much.  WIth that being said, it is also important to use drill enough so that you don’t have to explain each drill as this can lead to a waste of practive time.

A mix of shooting, passing, and agility drills are an important thing to consider when creating your practice.  Soccer shooting drills are typically more fun and can be incorporated into games as well.  This will help increase the interest and intensity level especially if there is a prize awarded to the winners.  At the same time, using a punishment such as extra conditioning, can be a great incentive.

Incorporating passing into the shooting drills is key.  Soccer passing drills seem to be less iteresting for most players, especially the younger players.  Good passing drills that allow players a reward at the end, like a shot on net, seem to excite players more than just a plain passing drill.

Of course, conditioning drills are just not much fun, but again there are games that can be played that require conditioning.  Mentally it will not be such a drag if conditioning can be turned into a game of some sort.

A good mix of drills and games is important to keep players focused and interested for all of your practices.  Make sure you are well prepared and keep practice moving to hold your players attention. Most importantly, make sure players are excited to come to your practices.

Exercise bikes – How to get the most from your investment.

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Buying an upright exercise bike is a great investment in your future health but it is also a big investment financially. There is nothing worse than buying a bike and sitting it in the corner and using it as a coat stand, and watching it gather dust.

Firstly an exercise bike is a great tool for you to gain a good cardio workout. I prefer a magnetic exercise bike, we have one at home, as the resistance is smoother than other forms of bike. Basically there are magnetics around the flywheel which try to slow you down.

To get a real benefit you need to use the bike regularly. Try to set a time when you hop on a have a pedal. If you are trying to lose weight or just get fit the best way to do so is to set yourself a goal. Goals only work when you believe in them, it is no good saying I will lose 500 pounds by next thursday, it is just not believable, so you won’t even try to achieve it. But if you said I will lose 7 pounds by the end of next month, well you can believe that, once you achieve that you can set the next goal. Achieve the small goals and you are on you way to the big goals.

So try setting a target of say being able to cover a certain distance in 20 mins. This is where a cycle computer comes in handy. If right now that distance takes 25 mins then doing it in 20mins is not such a high target, you want to give yourself say a month to achieve it.

This is good way to prevent yourself getting bored, it is such a great motivator when you manage to cover the distance in 20mins.

It is a good idea to vary you exercise bike workout, as this can help improve your fitness level quicker.

Considering The news and views & public opinion Associated WithJournalism

Monday, May 25th, 2009

More and more of the community are getting into journalism as a profession because they feel that this is one calling that would give them freedom in terms of work schedule, office attire, and even in speaking their minds in terms of news and opinion.

If you are one of those of the population who are looking forward to a journalism vocation, it is best if as early as now, you would start qualifying yourself for the position. The best thing that you need to do is really know if the journalism employment option is really what you want to do. It is best to understand the industry very well first before you finally decide on it.

You can do this by conducting some simple research on how it is like to have a journalism speciality. You can find many articles some of these are even written by prominent figures in the newspaper industry-and ask yourself if you are willing to take this path. Once you have decided, you now have to earn the credentials needed for it or that can help you to achieve that goal of having a journalism speciality.

To earn the right credentials that can help you a take a notch higher in realizing your dream, it is ideal to enroll to a journalism university. This is because enrolling in a course that is directly related to it can help you understand the industry better and would also help you to be properly equipped for it.

What to consider : Today, there hundreds of journalism colleges and universities specialising in various aspects of public opinion that offer various programs that are related to a journalism vocation. For you not to waste time studying in a college that won’t really help you once you have finished, it is best to be meticulous in choosing the right university before you finally enter it.

1. Choose the one that will fit your needs and personal preference. This is very important in choosing a journalism university because it will help you realize what it is that you are about to enter. You need to know what are your needs in terms of skills training and find out if the school can cater that need. You should also take time to consider if you really like the university and its programs not only because of the name or the popularity but the structure of the programs offered as well.

2. Choose a university that would allow you to pick your own tutor as each will have their own bias when it comes to dealing with opinion articles. In regular schools or courses, the school usually decides who is the teacher who will teach you. But since a journalism course is all about hands-on experience, it is best to choose a university that would give you freedom to choose who will be the ones who will be teaching you. This is very important because you will be able to get the first hand accounts from them.

If you don’t have an idea who the best professor to choose is, you can do a research on the faculty of the school. Look for the ones who you think are the best reference persons to you. Many of the faculty in journalism schools nowadays are into academics and they are not even media practitioners. Although they can be beneficial in honing your skills and knowledge, it will be better if you choose the lecturer that has experience in working as a journalist so he or she can help you start with your own journalism speciality.

What Tricks I Use To Potty Train My Dog

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

So why is my yorkie always so excited to use my pee pads? There are a few different reasons I will share with you. I strongly believe that when a dog does something right you must reward them. Whether it be a treat or love. When potty training my dog I always give here a treat after each use on the puppy pads. When I would leave the house for a few hours she would wait for me to get home. The reason??? She wanted that treat after I watched her go potty. Always remember to be consistent in your training.

Make sure when using housebreaking pads that you change them regularly. If they build up to much potty mess, the dog will want to go other places. My yorkie will wait for me to change them and immediately run over and potty on them right after. Then she patient waits for her reward. In the beginning make sure you regularly take your dog to there potty area.

Pee-pads.com is the best place to buy puppy pads. Buying in bulk can save you a lot of money. They offer 3 different sized pee pads to fit your potty area needs. The smallest size is 17”x24”. These come 300 per case with free shipping at a low cost of $54.99. These work great for dogs that weigh less than 8 pounds. Another popular size is the 23”x24” pee pads which come 200 per case. New are the Jumbo 23”x36” pee pads which come 150 per case. Please share with me any potty training tactics that work for you.

What to look for in a wooden porch swing.

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Before buying a wooden porch swing, it’s important to make sure that the swing you are buying meets a number of important criteria. Here is a list of what you should look for in a swing, along with some reasons why it’s important.

Hand Made – A hand made swing is certainly a must when buying a porch swing. This is because each piece is individually crafted, ensuring better cuts and a smoother finish.

Cypress – Cypress has been called the “eternal wood” because of its ability to stand up to the elements. A cypress swing is as durable as teak, while being as little as one-tenth the price! Don’t buy a swing made from exotic woods only to watch it rot on your porch.

Size – Be sure that the porch swing you choose is the correct size to fit on your porch, and to fit the number of people you expect to be swinging on it.

Accessories – Would you like your swing to have a cup holder? An interesting question, perhaps, but certainly something to think about. What will you want with you while on your porch swing? Keep that in mind when looking at what’s available.

The Porch Swings I Love Most

Of course, I have a very strong preference in porch swings. There is one particular artisan who builds beautiful, durable porch swings from Cypress. His name is Ted Leger (pronounced Lay-shay), and he’s based in Louisiana (where a lot of cypress trees grow). All of his swings are hand made, and he can ship anywhere in the USA.
