Planning for soccer practices requries a good soccer drill library

Monday, February 8th, 2010

One of the more important things to do as a coach is to take time to design soccer practices that fit the age and skill level of your players.  It is very important to have an extensive library of soccer drills to choose from so that practices are not predictable and mindless.  Mentally, it is important for your players to have to use their heads and pay attention to new drills becuase if drills are repeated over and over at every pracitce then players don’t use their head as much.  WIth that being said, it is also important to use drill enough so that you don’t have to explain each drill as this can lead to a waste of practive time.

A mix of shooting, passing, and agility drills are an important thing to consider when creating your practice.  Soccer shooting drills are typically more fun and can be incorporated into games as well.  This will help increase the interest and intensity level especially if there is a prize awarded to the winners.  At the same time, using a punishment such as extra conditioning, can be a great incentive.

Incorporating passing into the shooting drills is key.  Soccer passing drills seem to be less iteresting for most players, especially the younger players.  Good passing drills that allow players a reward at the end, like a shot on net, seem to excite players more than just a plain passing drill.

Of course, conditioning drills are just not much fun, but again there are games that can be played that require conditioning.  Mentally it will not be such a drag if conditioning can be turned into a game of some sort.

A good mix of drills and games is important to keep players focused and interested for all of your practices.  Make sure you are well prepared and keep practice moving to hold your players attention. Most importantly, make sure players are excited to come to your practices.

Should You DIY Or Hire Out?

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Are you taking on a do it yourself project in the next little while? Are you thinking this might be a great way to save some money? Or maybe you are handy and want the challenge of doing something worthwhile? What ever your reason is you need to ask yourself whether you should do it or hire a professional to do the job for you.

Skill Level

Ok, you are well skilled and have tackled many small fix it type jobs. Are you the type of person to dive into a project or sit down and plan out the project before starting. If you have all the time in the world then jump right in, but if you want to actually complete a project the way the pros do then sit down and make a plan. Then stick to that plan.

Size of Project?

How big was your last diy job? If the last thing you did in some time was change out your shower head then you might want to think about this. Again if you can sit down and plan it out and make each step almost the size of changing out a shower head you will be fine. If you are taking on a diy building project try and think in terms of dollars. If you are attempting to build a $75,000 kitchen you might want some help. If you are taking on smaller projects like installing a new floor, or painting a room, then jump right in.

The key to all of this is planning. A large job that is going to take you a year is fine to do yourself. Especially if you decide to contract out all the little jobs you can not do. This way you act as the general contractor for the project, and get your hands dirty on some of the projects as well. In a diy home building project there are dozens of trades that are required to complete a house. You can easily hire the ones you need for the jobs you do not have time for or are uncomfortable performing. This is how a lot of house builders start off as well. They contract out jobs they can not do and do what they can. Then as the company grows they keep what they have specialized in, and hire out everything else.

You should to!

Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong Be Careful!

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Decades ago people would laugh and say you’re crazy if you told them about what would be possible in the future, things like electric cars, robots, lasers as well as medical operations… A big issue on people’s agenda, especially that of hollywood is the fact that so many are modifying their appearance. The shame is that some people intend to make themselves look better but end up receiving awful plastic surgery! Don’t tempt murphy’s law by being lazy regarding the due diligence and market research marketing necessary to make sure the doctor you are planning to see is qualified to perform the cosmetic surgery you desire.

If the doctor’s main intent is to make money and he has no passion for his work or committment to his clients, you may have a bigger problem on your hands than vanity. If you don’t consider factors like customer service, quality, and price in addition to the overall skill level of the doctor then you might be in for a major disappointment after everything is said and done. Honestly, nobody is perfect and thinking that an operation will make you so is just delusional thinking. At bare minimum read as many plastic surgery reviews as possible.

Marketing is not everything when it comes to finding a quality provider because you’ve probably heard the saying, “looks can be decieving.” If you’ve heard about the terrible lip implants that many people received and then decided to have removed you will probably be tuned into the dangers involved with these desires. It’s smart to investigate as broadly as possible to digg up any dirt that may be availabe, even the most minimal horror story should be enough to have you running for the door!

Disclaimer: Always consult a doctor before taking medical related advice.
